At our site we are able to manufacture and cover rollers up to 420mm in diameter and over 3 metres in length, for a wide range of industries including plastics, woodworking, printing and the food industry.
The focal point of the Graphics Division is the manufacture and covering of printing rollers for the print and packaging industries. Quality is of the essence, so most of our rubber compounds are manufactured by British Vita to ensure consistency of production and full technical support from the UK’s largest compound supplier. Rubber specifications are individually designed for each press requirement to ensure optimum performance in the press room environment, both physically and chemically.
We supply the full range of rollers for the graphics market – Inking, Damping, Litho graphic, Web offset, Flexographic, Adhesive, Gravure, Embossing, Varnishing, Coating, Label Print, Feed and Drive rollers. Our in-house engineering facilities allow us to provide additional machining, grooves, spirals etc and to re-build rollers with new bearings if required. We offer a fast, comprehensive repair service such as journal end repairs etc. We are always pleased to advise on any technical problems you may have.
There is a Press Ready roller service for certain Heidelberg, Komori, and Mitsubishi Presses, and a recovery and repair services for all types of Sheet and Web offset Presses, using compounds and products specifically formulated for their application.
The range of compounds has been designed for use in both Sheet-Fed and Web Presses, providing uniform ink distribution because of its exceptional ability to store and transfer ink film. In addition to superior performance, the Premier Range resists swelling and hardening, to eliminate roller resetting, performs at speeds in excess of 3200 ft/min, is available in a variety of hardness for print applications and can be used in virtually any roller position.
DuoRubber This compound has been specifically developed for the printer who wants to use Conventional and UV inks on the same press. Simply pre-qualify the inks and wash-ups to be used, and then go back and forth between UV and Conventional Inks.
By developing Duo-Rubber, Roller Company has simplified the process of switching between UV and Conventional ink. No costly conditioning or changing to rollers, which are compatible with particular ink. Take advantage of Roller Company superior technology and try some today.
Roller Company use the next generation of roller covering, to run in today's dampening systems. With the introduction of alcohol substitutes that sometimes attack common elastomer based roller coverings it became necessary to develop the next generation of compounds.
HydraRubber This compound resists surface deterioration from the speed differential that is used in today's modern press dampening systems. This metering action causes excessive abrasion at the nip point of the rollers, resulting in the premature wear and surface deterioration. The Hydra Flo stands up to this and the harsh alcohol substitutes that are regularly used.
Rilsan Rollers These hard plastic coated products are used as transfer, rider, McKinley, or micrometric rollers where a long term material is required to run alongside the associated rubber rollers. Due to their exceptionally high wear resistant properties, they will perform to the same high level of quality for many years. In the event of them being accidentally damaged on press, they can sometimes be repaired successfully in situ on press or on site, but more generally they will be repaired offsite, and optionally fully refurbished to their original state.
Polyurethane Rollers Our polyurethane compounds are used for path rollers, folder rollers, split nips, wheels, specialised inking rollers, all printer rollers and other applications where extra abrasion resistance and resilience are required. They can be supplied as moulded surfaces or with a ground finish, to the same level of precision as our rubber rollers, but with the extra performance provided by these compounds. Special additional properties can include a high grip low slip surface, and we can supply these for use in applications including folding machines. Polyurethane rollers can be moulded as one off prototypes, up to high volume production quantities.
Flexographic Anilox Rollers These are supplied as ceramic surfaced printer rollers, engraved with a specified pattern of cells to give the required transfer of coating weight. Generally, laser engraving is performed to give a variety of different profiles, resulting in varying coating lay down characteristics. Alternatively, mechanical engraving can be offered, but this is less flexible in result as different tools are required for each different pattern. We can offer a refurbishment of the engraved surface where it has worn or has been damaged. In addition, an existing cell profile can be modified to achieve an alternative coating weight or other characteristics. If the surface is only marginally damaged, then this can be repaired with only a surface grind followed by re-engraving; if the surface is more badly damaged, then the existing coating is removed and replaced with a new ceramic coating, followed by re-engraving. Ultrasonic cleaning is also available to maintain the high quality of the surface finish, so that the roller provides the same weight of coating transfer as when it was new.
Services We manufacture a range of Press Ready rollers, which are held in stock ready for the immediate dispatch and carrier for next day delivery, and ask that the old cores are returned back to us within 60 days, otherwise a charge will be made for cores. Roller fitting service is available on request for a variety of presses by skilled technicians with settings adjusted to manufacturer’s recommendations, ensuring excellent ink/damping application and reduced wash up times, to maximise life expectancy.
Pressroom Audit A full Pressroom Audit is available to Roller Company customers. During the audit, our sales and technical staff conducts interviews with your your production staff, observing your pressroom procedures, and conducts a thorough Product Usage Analysis. Our technical experts go over printing equipment in the plant to evaluate condition settings and performance. Our technical experts measure and analyze printed results from your equipment to assist you in characterizing your printing conditions. A comprehensive report is then generated and presented to the management of the plant with recommendations which will result in improvements to your manufacturing operations.
Roller Company Check: • Are you getting the most out of your pressroom? • How do the presses in your plant compare with one another? • Should you accept a particular job or will it be a problem? • Are your maintenance procedures adequate?
This program can assist you in benchmarking press performance. Specialists will assist you in obtaining the necessary measurements and interpreting the results. Based upon the results, our personnel can make suggestions to optimize performance in your pressroom. The initial benchmark serves as a fixed point of comparison to validate the effectiveness of actions which are intended to improve pressroom performance.
The Program Benefits You
A review of your print quality will assist you in achieving:
